Suggestions for Indian Juvenile Justice System

- Sanction youths who commit serious offenses and transfer them to adult court

- Remove non serious cases from official agencies of justice and place these youths in community based treatment program.

- It is a mistake for the system that deals with criminal youth also to handle troubled adolescents, whose problems usually are the result of child abuse and neglect. The current statue should be amended to give the state’s department of social welfare jurisdiction over all noncriminal youths who are in need of assistance.

- Use self reports to find out the real extent of juvenile delinquency. Self report is questionnaire or survey technique that asks subjects to reveal their own participation in delinquent or criminal act. Subjects are allowed to stay anonymous- so they will reveal their actual participation.
